Royal National Mòd 2017 - Fort William

Several Choir members competed at the Mòd. Margaret Bell won the Ali Abassi Memorial Cup for poetry recitation. Largs Gaelic Choir Quartet ( Linda McCallum, Marie Ann McCord, Colin Fisher and Gus MacDonald) won the Stornoway Gaelic Choir Cup for quartet singing and the Marshall Stormonth Memorial Trophy for the highest marks in music.

The Choir competed in The Margrat Duncan Memorial competition and also in the Puirt-a-Beul competition.

The Choir held a free pre-Mòd concert in St Columba's Episcopal Church Hall.

 

Saturday 6th June 2015

The Choir competed at the Oban Provincial Mòd. The Choir hosted an informal ceilidh at the Oban Bay Hotel on Saturday evening and several other choirs joined us there.

The Choir competed in the Renfrewshire Cuach Competition in the Wynd Centre, Paisley.

 

Tuesday 13th January 2015

The Choir held an open evening with refreshments at St Columba's Episcopal Church Hall, Aubery Crescent, Largs.

 

Tuesday 9th December 2014

The Choir entertained the residents of Hutton Park Residential Home. This was followed by our Annual Dinner at Woody's Reataurant where a presentation was made to our retiring conductor Elspeth Howie.

The Choir competed in The Margrat Duncan Memorial competition and also in the Puirt-a-Beul competition.

The Choir sang on an outdoor stage at Largs Esplanade for the Viking Festival.

 

Saturday 21st June 2014

The Choir competed at Oban Provincial Mod and gained second places in both the mixed choir competition and the puirt-a-beul competition. In the evening we hosted an informal ceilidh where we were joined by members of the Oban and Taynult choirs.

The Choir joined with Largs Players for a perfomance of "The Cheviot, the Stag and the Black, Black Oil" by John McGrath at Barrfields, Largs.

The Choir entertained the residents at Hutton Park followed by Christmas Dinner at Woody's Restaurant.

 

Royal National Mòd 2013 - Paisley 

The Choir won the Margrat Duncan Competion outright gaining the Margratt Duncan Memorial Trophy, the John McNicol Memorial Trophy for highest marks in Gaelic and  the Staffinders Quaich for highest marks in music. The An Comunn Silver Baton for the conductor of the winning choir went to Elspeth Howie.

The Choir  competed at the Oban Provincial Mòd. We won the Puirt-a-beul competion and in the Mixed Voices competiton we took Second place but also took the prize for the highest markin Gaelic.

Largs Gaelic Choir along with other Gaelic choirs  provided the music for "Still Dancing". This was part of the World Congress on Active Aging opening ceremony.
